PRIP (Department of Pharmaceuticals, ₹5,000 crore): 41 projects got ₹1,600 crore from the first call. The second call, announced 28 Aug 2026, offers up to ₹5 crore per project at TRL 1–3 or up to ₹100 crore at TRL 4–6 (at most 35% of cost); first-round projects can't reapply. The Discovery Track, opened 1 Oct 2026, offers startups and MSMEs working on new chemical or biological entities up to ₹50 crore with at least 25% investor co-funding. PRIP is a ₹5,000 crore scheme to build India's pharmaceutical and medtech R&D; a new Discovery Track for startups and MSMEs opened on 1 October 2026.
Objectives
Move Indian pharma and medtech from volume to value by funding research, discovery and innovation with industry and academia.
Who can apply?
- Discovery Track: startups and MSMEs developing New Chemical Entities (NCEs) or New Biological Entities (NBEs) at TRL 1–3.
- Other PRIP components are open to industry and academia–industry partnerships per call.
What do you get?
- Second call (announced 28 Aug 2026): up to ₹5 crore per project for startups and MSMEs at TRL 1–3, and up to ₹100 crore at TRL 4–6, capped at 35% of project cost.
- Discovery Track (opened 1 Oct 2026): up to ₹50 crore per company, project or portfolio for new chemical or biological entities at TRL 1–3, with support up to TRL 6 and at least 25% co-funding from institutional investors.
- 41 projects already approved with about ₹1,600 crore of support from the first call.
