Rules that changed for every startup
- New startup definition (4 Feb 2026): turnover cap doubled to ₹200 crore; a new Deep Tech Startup category with a 20-year window and ₹300 crore cap; cooperatives can now be recognised. See Before you apply.
- Union Budget 2026-27: a ₹10,000 crore SME Growth Fund (announced), a ₹2,000 crore top-up to the Self-Reliant India Fund, Biopharma SHAKTI (₹10,000 crore over 5 years), India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, TReDS made mandatory for CPSE purchases from MSMEs, and the ₹10 lakh value cap on courier exports removed.
- Ecosystem: about 2.4 lakh DPIIT-recognised startups by mid-2026, with 55,200+ recognised in FY 2025-26 alone.
